Amidst All the Fuss Over CRISPR…

The microbiologist in me wants to note that, despite all of the fuss over CRISPR due to its potential in engineering human genomes, bacteria have many ways to protect themselves against bacterial viruses (which is a key function of CRISPR in ‘the wild’).

They’re pretty interesting, and from the bacterial perspective, probably more important than CRISPR.
