I wonder if the best way to deal with the National Guard deployments is kindness. After all, they are on 29 day deployment so that Trump doesn’t have to give them full pay. Since a lot of them have jobs, they know they’ll be called up for another 29 days after that. If you look at history, popular movements often co-opt the local military / militia. The big problem in the 19th century was that the movement had no clue as to how to govern and the reactionaries still controlled the main army.
