Gaslighting, Gaetz Style

One quick point about the recent Gaetz report: we already knew the broad contours of the report a long time ago, we just didn’t know all of the gross and sordid details. Over the next four years, we’re going to need to distinguish what can be proven to be criminal activity in a trial from what is very obvious. Could (or will) Gaetz be found guilty in a criminal trial? No idea. But is he a truly repellent scumbag? Absolutely.

There will be a lot of bad behavior by Trump et alia during the next four years, much of which, in a just society would be criminal, that they will get away with. Don’t get gaslit by people who conflate ‘successful indictment’ with ‘horrible behavior, unbecoming a public servant.’

Aside: From the report, “They [the women] were particularly concerned with providing additional testimony about a sitting congressman in light of DOJ’s lack of action on their prior testimony.” Good job, Attorney General Garland.
