Clinton, Electability, And Showing Up: Clinton Just Gave Away Missouri

Since Clinton is likely to be the Democratic nominee, it would be great appreciated if her campaign took closing the deal seriously. After all, if you’re going to make an electability argument, then you need to do the small things to win. And the Clinton campaign isn’t.

As was the case in Nevada, Thursday night, Clinton probably lost Missouri to Sanders because her delegates again didn’t bother to show up (boldface mine):

So it appears Bernie just flipped Missouri. Here are the counts from last night’s convention( H 642, B 679) along with the official gov page so you can add them yourselves. It appears Bernie just gained the Delegate lead and will have more Delegates at the next convention.

If Clinton blows out Sanders in a couple of large states, this doesn’t matter–there aren’t enough delegates at play here. But if it’s close–even if Sanders is behind–these small number of delegates could matter, since people fixate over base five and base ten numbers: as stupid as it is, it matters if you can say “behind by less than fifty.”

More importantly, I have doubts about the Clinton’s campaign’s ability to sweat the small stuff, the things that can win or lose elections. It also makes me wonder about all the ‘enthusiasm’ claims her campaign is making.

For Democrats’ sake, she needs to fire some people now.

This is what I’ve been saying to my friends for months now – the thing that worries me the most against a potential Cruz-Clinton matchup is you have a hyper-organized campaign vs. a disorganized one, a campaign which relentlessly stays on message vs. one with a penchant for unforced errors. Very disconcerting.

Well, she could sack Podesta. That’d leave him more time to work on the precious SberBank account.
