Why I Have a Hard Time Trusting Moderate Democrats

Because while we’re fighting to save the Republic, they’re doing nasty shit like this (boldface mine):

A new poll by a firm linked to Joe Biden is testing messages designed to undercut support among Democrats for Medicare for All, one of the most contentious issues splitting the party’s top presidential contenders.

The survey, commissioned by the centrist Democratic think tank Third Way, found that primary voters start off favoring the government-run health care system by a margin of 70% to 21%, but can be persuaded to oppose it. The study showed that Democrats are most swayed by the arguments that the program would impose a heavy cost on taxpayers and threaten Medicare for senior citizens.

The poll was conducted by Lisa Grove of Anzalone Liszt Grove Research. Her partner, John Anzalone, is the chief pollster and an adviser to Biden, who opposes Medicare for All and wants to make government-run insurance optional.

Moderates and radical centrists usually tell the left-ish types that we’re being unrealistic and not being pragmatic in our calls for a system like Medicare-for-All. But actively working to tank the very idea of Medicare-for-All is something very different in kind. They don’t want it under any circumstances.

Seems divisive.

Yet we’re the ones accused of ‘purity’ anytime we criticize moderates. Once (or perhaps if) the state of emergency passes, there are a lot of things to sort out on the Democratic side, and we need to remember who stood where–and when.

We Democrats can not afford to have Biden mis-educating the Democrats. The experts agree that we have to begin the shift away from our current health insurance situation. Having our base scared of expanding Medicare delays the necessary expansion. Shame on Biden’s campaign. Key donors and political types have to stop this effort now.

BTW glad Metro finally got the Dupont station coolers fixed.
