If you haven’t heard, Boston’s Mayor Thomas Menino will not run for re-election, ending his twenty-year run as mayor. I’ll have more to say in a longer post soon (why does all of the interesting stuff happen when I’m on vacation….), but two quick points:

1) While he had his faults, he actually gave a damn about all of Boston, not just the wealthy parts. This is a very rare thing among Democrats these days.

2) His term in office was longer than the Rascal Kings, which is pretty damn impressive.
