The Boston Public Library has a really interesting exhibit of George Bellows’ drawings. Here’s one drawing, “The Law Is Too Slow”:

Man. I’m not sure I’ll be able to sleep tonight.

Many years ago, a HS teacher assigned a very graphic short story about a lynching. He told us in advance that the story was graphic and that if anyone might be offended, there was an alternate reading available. Most of us read the story and I still remember it well, although the author and title escape me at the moment. Part of the English teacher’s point in assigning the story was to get us to think not only about the disturbing issues of racism, but also to think about censorship.
