While going down the rabbit hole of online kerfuffles can lead to madness (and none of us deserve having to know who Laura Loomer is), the last week of right wing cannibalism over immigration policy* should put to rest the question of whether or not Democrats, the left et alia should attempt to push back right-wing/fascist propaganda on Twitter (answer: NOPE).

About a month ago, with the Great Bluesky Migration, it became clear that a lot of MAGA trolls were getting really fed up with the Bluesky Block, which meant that, after offering some brilliant comment like “there are only two genders”, the people they responded to with that anti-trans garbage could block them and never see them again. As multiple people noted, they ‘won Twitter’, in that the Dreaded Libturds** had left. But were they happy? Hell no! Whom would they pick on and insult?

Then in the last week, when co-president Musk stepped in the doggy doo over immigration, all those sociopathic tendencies needed to be channeled–and they were! At each other. Without the Dreaded Libturds to yell at, they only have each other.

I don’t know if it would have altered the election outcome, but imagine if the Great Migration had occurred in July. We might have had several months of them gnawing on each other. Would that have swung the election? Who knows, but it definitely wouldn’t have hurt–and besides, those miserable assholes deserve it.
