On Social Security Cuts, the Democratic Answer Must Be “Nope”

Maybe even hell nope. Fascists wanting to cut the limited safety net? Inconceivable!

Rep. Richard McCormick (R-GA) told Fox Business that Republicans will desperately need help from Democrats if they intend to cut Social Security and Medicare — both of which are programs Democrats have historically supported.

President-elect Donald Trump has said he intends to extend, and possibly expand, his tax cuts to the wealthy and corporations. The cost of the cuts has been in the trillions, and expanding them would cost the country a little under $5 trillion, experts have calculated.

And, with expensive program being pursued such as Trump’s promised mass deportations, more money will need to be found from somewhere…

“We’re gonna have to have some hard decisions,” claimed McCormick during his Fox appearance Tuesday. “We’re gonna have to bring in the Democrats to talk about Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare.

“There’s hundreds of billions of dollars to be saved, we just have to have the stomach to take those challenges on.”

Trump promised during the 2024 campaign that he would not make any cuts to Social Security or Medicare, but CNN reported in October that some of his proposals would ultimately slash Social Security in the next six years.

The only answer from Democrats should be “Nope.” And with Manic Pixie Dream Senator Sinema and Co-Chair of All Senate Committees Joe Fucking Manchin gone, hopefully even Congressional Democrats won’t fuck this up. If Republicans want cuts, let Republicans own them. Force Republicans eat this shit sandwich of their own making.

It’s time for Democrats to act like an opposition party, their inept consultants–the ones who won’t even own up to losing the election–notwithstanding.

Those piggies on Wall Street have wanted to chow down on the Social Security trust fund for decades, and Gingrich nearly made a deal with President Clinton to let them do it before the Lewinski scandal hit. Let’s hope no women have to take one for the team to stop them this time!🤮

Often, if the Dirty Foul Hippies call and scream to do something, or to avoid doing something, the Democrats in power will do it. Can we, perhaps, use reverse psychology on them, somehow or other? “Please don’t fling me into that briar patch!”

Alternatively, we need serious enforcement. And we DFH must do it ourselves.
