Or green. Well, the claim that Republicans are ‘weird’, first mentioned by Democratic governor of Minnesota Tim Walz, seems to have entered The Discourse (even Politico wrote two articles referring to weirdness). I have no idea how it will play among low information independents, but it does appear to have two significant effects so far.
First, it’s energizing Democrats. The reality is Republicans have become, far and away, the weirdo party*. It’s not just that their policies are bad, it’s that those policies, especially ‘social issues’, are based in some really ugly, creepy stuff that is repellent to most Democrats. And Democrats are tired of feeling like the weird ones when they’re not. It’s encouraging to hear your party agree with this assessment. It also is a partial abandonment of that “when they go low, we go high”, in favor of a more aggressive approach. Your supporters need to see you fighting for them (and not the “we will fight for YOOOUUUUUU!!” Schumer/Pelosi era crap).
Second, conservative activists are really upset about this. They don’t mind, and arguably enjoy, people thinking they’re evil and so on, because that makes them appear (and feel) strong. But mockery weakens their image, both external and self. When it comes from women, it’s even more devastating to them.
Anyway, they are weird (also evil, but still weird).
*There are parts of the left that will say bizarre, unpopular things, but it’s definitely not the mainstream of the party, including presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

Republicans and conservatives reveled in being called Fascists and Racists, they embrace those insults and then turn around and as classic bullies taunt us to cry because being upset by their deliberate meanness and evil legislation makes them laugh. But, saying their ideas are weird and they themselves are weird (in the off-putting and creepy) sense of the word upsets them because they aren’t being feared they are being ridiculed. The Legendary Mel Brooks has spoken about this at length for decades as a way to disempower the Nazis.
You know it’s a serious blow to Traitor DonOld Trump’s ego when he has to respond No Weird. I’m not weird! You’re weird.
Spot on. You are so politically astute!
