    Software updates forever? I can’t imagine how that would work. A lot of the companies that wrote the software are no longer around. Besides, why just software? It’s not like I can buy unleaded gasoline anymore, and try getting a new red/black typewriter ribbon. Hell, I had to write off my last car as totaled because they couldn’t get body parts for it after five years.

    I think it would be wonderful to get spare parts and updates for everything forever, but I don’t see how that is going to happen. Microsoft nearly strangled on DOS compatibility after 30 years of careful maintenance. You can still fire up an emulator, but sometimes the past is the past.
