Why We Need Vaccination Requirements: The South Dakota Edition

From the Gret Stet of South Dakota comes a poll describing what South Dakotans think are effective measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Here’s what South Dakotan Democrats and Republicans think is effective:

Just so there’s no mistake, South Dakotan Republicans believe–erroneously–vitamins are more effective than vaccinations or mask wearing. At some point, we have to realize that people are not making good decisions, nor will they come around in any meaningful amount of time. The only way to surmount this problem is with vaccination requirements.

All 3 of those top items (wash hands, distance, vitamins – particularly there was talk that vitamin D might help with symptom control, but of course they act like it is a preventative) were indeed what we talked about.

In March, 2020 when this all first started and we weren’t sure of how it actually spread. During this time, the CDC was waffling on the whole mask thing (supposedly to avoid hoarding, but that happened anyways).

So yeah, for a time that WAS how we thought we needed to control it. I remember the Colbert episodes just before they shut NYC down discussing all of this in his monologues.

Then we learned a hell of a lot more. Or at least, WE learned it.

They never did. They are still acting like it is March 2020 in this regard, both in terms of their choices for protection, but also in their understanding of the the severity and risk. They are acting like the original bug which had a significant asymptomatic rate, and if a family member got it the rest of the family ran a good chance still of missing it.

None of that is true anymore. Everything is different, first with the Alpha and then made far worse by Delta. But they’re still stuck as if everything they were told in March of 2020 is all there is to know and so everything else is just a lie by the libs to control them.

Actually, it’s still January 2020 to most of them. Specifically the day when Fauci said masks weren’t effective. And they’ll sure as hell tell you it’s the lord’s truth from on high, even as they go on to call Fauci a shill and whatever else.

“Helping idiots who desperately need my assistance by calling them fucking morons since 2004” – definitely did not notice this before – I’ve spent the past three minutes laughing uncontrollably!!!🤣😂🤣😆

Isn’t avoiding groups and travel (if it involves groups on airlines/trains/cruises) better than masks? Social distancing > masks. Of course with vaccination it all matters a whole lot less. Dems became fixated on the mask thing, of course at least they get vaccinated!
