This weekend I saw some family at a reunion. The subject of climate change came up briefly, and my Southern relatives instantly dismissed it. Liberal Conspiracy! One of them is my age, we went to the same northern University at the same time, and he’s no dummy. He’s simply turned off his brain and defers strictly to Fox News on Every Single Issue. Another cousin with a respectable college education has done the same “turn off the brain” thing, only her go-to fount of wisdom is her Fundamentalist preacher. Anything that person says is God’s Will straight from the Bible! Not that she has ever bothered to read the Bible herself. I’m just a little more pessimistic regarding Climate Change than I was earlier.
