Republicans Still Have A Jewish Problem

I might have mentioned my despair over the Republican Jewish outreach program a few times. Today’s installment is from former Republican Congressman and former Lord High Marshall of the District of Columbia, Jason Chaffetz (boldface mine):

We need more good news, more good message, more of the good word reaching out to America. I think of those kids who went back to school today after that horrific shooting, and they need something more. They need a belief in God and Jesus Christ. I think that would help. And this is a historic moment.

Parkland, FL is around forty percent Jewish, and five of the seventeen people murdered by the definitely-not-Jewish Nazi sympathizer were Jews.

Fuck you, Chaffetz–and Fox News too for giving him a platform to spew this crap.

I do notice that such comments are antisemitic (also anti-everyone not a Christian, but given the victims mostly antisemitic), but given the current state of the Republican party this seems like a minor problem. Would their love for filling the streets with high powered weapons be less objectionable if they expressed their sympathies in non-sectarian terms? In any case if they were in favor of gun control but otherwise the same I would only hate them slightly less.
