The ACA Fight Is Not Over

Despite the supposed ‘heroics’ of Sen. John ‘Keating Five’ McCain enabling the repeal of the ACA–and denying millions the medical care he receives for free–there are still things to do to stop ACA repeal:

  1. If you live in Alaska or Maine, contact Murkowski (AK) and Snowe’s (ME) offices and thank them for opposing this bill, and politely ask them to keep up the fight. By the way, if you’re a Mainer, now might be a good time to contact Sen. Snowe’s office and ask what the hell she is thinking. For Senate office numbers, call (202) 224-3121.
  2. If your senator is a Democrat, every senator has the ability to offer unlimited amendments to the bill. That means each and every Democratic senator can stall the living hell out of this bill. Call your Democratic senator and tell them you expect unlimited amendments. Be polite (no yelling or cursing), but let them know that they can release whatever ‘Better Deal’ plan they want, but they sure as hell must fight to the last on this. Consider this payback for Merrick Garland.

The next 24-48 hours are critical, so call your senator and fight this thing.

A personal note: as a resident of the mainland colony (aka ‘D.C.’), I have no Senate representation. Don’t you fucking dare not call your senator, and waste the opportunity you are fortunate to have.

One Response to The ACA Fight Is Not Over

  1. M Crofoot says:

Olympia Snowe retired. Maine’s senators are Susan Collins and Angus King, so I am confused why calling Snow’s office, if she still has one, is useful.
