    My Hype Cycle experience is with hyperspectral imaging. In the late 90s and early 00s pretty much all you had to do was mention “hyperspectral imaging” in a proposal and someone from DoD (or maybe NIH) would throw money at you. Lo and behold, people more* isn’t always better.

    * More spectral bands and more (higher) resolution.
