As I’ve noted before, the idea that Democratic operatives might have to negotiate with the Left (as opposed to the Right, which is their usual modus operandi) seems to have made a few of them unhinged.
When you read something like this article over the platform negotiations, keep in mind that Sanders is just negotiating. If he says, “don’t worry, I won’t hurt you in November”, then he won’t get anything. He has to maintain a credible threat: after a quarter century of observing New Democrats, it’s clear they never work with the left when it is well-behaved (e.g., they only took gays-in-the-military seriously when donors threatened to withhold and gay activist groups promised to embarrass them).
I really hope many of the people who are getting severely butthurt by Sanders’ tactics are not the ones in their households who make major purchasing decisions.
