Once again, right wing insurgent groups are using the threat of violence in an attempt to influence government policy, this time in Oregon.
We will, as we have done before, refer to Comrade Thers:
Anyway, what we have here is a situation where a relatively small minority of Americans are claiming the right, ultimately backed up by their possession of weapons, to define the True Nature of American Freedom.
Which is fine, I guess, at least according to CNN…
How this differs in any important philosophical regard from the position, of, say, the Provisional Irish Republican Army, I cannot say.
How it differs in any practical sense, well (McVeigh cough) who knows.
Do these bozos think they are the only ones who could have access to guns (though I’m guessing this isn’t exactly a brains kind of operation)? I can’t even imagine the caterwauling–not to mention the law enforcement reaction–that would ensue were Black Lives Matter to show up armed to one of their protests.
It’s bad enough that, in 2014, these damn traitor militias set up checkpoints–no, I’m not kidding–and there were no consequences (freedom of assembly? Who, me?). Now, they’re occupying federal buildings in support of people who vandalize public property.
But somewhere on a college campus, students got testy–maybe even rude or uncivil–with an invited speaker so both sides do it. Or something.
And if the Republicans, including the presidential candidates, don’t disown this crap, then we need to start referring to these assholes as the paramilitary wing of the Republican Party.
Considering how quickly California moved to ban open carry after the Black Panthers showed up at the statehouse with guns, you bet we’d have a vastly different national gun policy were Black Lives Matter to show up en masse armed and loaded.
Of course, it would completely defeat their message, but….
