They Are Not Normal People

And by “they”, I mean gun nuts. In case you missed it, Republican Arkansas State Representative Nate Bell tweeted this:

“I wonder how many Boston liberals spent the night cowering in their homes wishing they had an AR-15 with a hi-capacity magazine?”

I’m guessing very, very few. Since I’m a Boston liberal, I can speak pretty authoritatively on the subject. I actually slept through it, like a lot of people (I did hear sirens, read that a police officer had been wounded, and didn’t think it was connected). Friday morning, when I found out what happened and was under lockdown, it never even occurred to me to think, “Boy, I wish I had a gun.” After I read Bell’s idiotic comment, it still didn’t make sense to me. Not only is Bell a mean and nasty piece of work, he seems to be a constantly frightened and hypervigilant person.

Pity, not anger, is the appropriate emotion.

If by “normal” you mean Liberal traitors to America and everything that America stands for, you’re right. “Gun nuts,” as you choose in your hate to describe Americans, aren’t like your kind. In point of fact, you and your kind are exactly what the Second Amendment was designed to eradicate.

    • The 2nd Amendment wasn’t designed to eradicate anyone, you hateful piece of shit.

      • jonolan says:

Yes, it was. It designed to ensure that Americans had the arms needed to prevent through lethal force the government from becoming tyrannical. Such a defense has to include the eradication en mass and in totality of the followers of the overreaching government in question.

You’re right, “gun nut” isn’t an appropriate description of you. It’s more like…”maniac with a raging murder boner”

        • Rich S. says:

If you fucking assholes spent half as much effort defending the 1st and the 4th amendments, there would be less need to use the 2nd in order to stop tyranny. Fucking gun not jerk-off.

          • Rich S. says:

Oops. That should have been “Fucking gun nut jerk-off.” Sorry.

          • jonolan says:

Simply put, w/o the robust and proactive protections enumerated in the 1nd Amendment, there’s no real way to protect the 1st and the 4th ones – or any of the others. All law and government is force and, at the end of the day, all that law and government respect’s or fears is force and the threat of being brought to bear on themselves and their families.

To some, your lack of profanity would imply a taking of the high road. But, let’s look at the worldview that underlies what you say. Justice comes from the barrel of a gun, eh? While this may be true in many parts of the world like Afghanistan, the northwest tribal regions of Waziristan, and Somalia, we try to be a bit more civilized and enlightened here in America.
Now, setting aside criminals, sociopaths, and other such insanity, we have a social contract where, as a self-governing society, we make the rules, we determine the penalties for breaking the rules, we set up the institutions to enforce the rules, and we give our consent to certain individuals to work within those institutions with enforcement authority. We do this because we want the principles of live and let live and do unto others to have the greatest practical application as possible. We are not perfect, so we’ll never get to the ideal, but that doesn’t mean we stop trying and throw up our hands and go back to pre-Magna Carta days.
You apparently view the world as an inescapably brutal and profane place where the only thing stopping a man from fucking his neighbor’s wife, shooting his dog, and burning down his house is the fear of punishment. It is people like you who create these conditions.

    An explosion?! Quick! Shoot it!
Also, if baseballs bats and kitchen knives are just as dangerous as an AR with a large magazine(as that stupid old chestnut goes), why didn’t he think liberals should be wishing for those instead?

  3. Min says:

Sounds like Bell is one of those who “cling to their guns and religion.”

  4. albanaeon says:

Probably because liberal Bostonians, and liberals in general, understand that the proper reaction to tense and emotional situations is not arming everyone including bystanders and their dogs to the teeth. Or, more simply, they actually THINK about these things.

But we are all to well aware that there isn’t a lot of thought going on in anything conservatives are doing these days, as Bell so kindly re-demonstrates.
