Boston Has Thieving Zombies

By way of Universal Hub, we come across the following Boston police report (boldface mine):

The 27 year old female victim informed officers she was walking down Green Street near High Street when two white males asked her for a cigarette. The victim stated she was about to give them a cigarette when suspect #1 described as white male, about 5’5″, thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans, grabbed her cell phone, wallet and Walgreens bag from her hands, then bit her left arm. The victim further informed officers that a second male suspect described as a white male, 5’5″, thin build, dark hair, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans yelled “Just grab the cell phone!”

I’m confused by suspect #1’s criminal master plan:

1) Trick victim–makes sense (if evil)
2) Take victim’s stuff–again, makes sense, although evil
3) Bite the victim

I’m not sure I see what the benefit from step #3 is.

Never a dull moment…
