What the Republicans are doing, only much, much cuter
A while ago, I argued that the Northeastern Congressional delegation should play hardball with the agriculture bill to make sure that we get some of what we need too. What I can’t understand is that the Republican leadership has essentially killed this year’s ag bill. While most of the large subsidies will continue, about forty programs will be unfunded. Even Republicans are upset by this.
This makes no sense: this funding goes to rural, conservative, white districts. The Republican leadership is screwing their own people.
Maybe they’ve caught whatever the Democrats have had for the past twenty years?
