From Ipsos polling:

Republicans have successfully created a ‘Republican Cinematic Universe’ that is impervious to reality. It’s going to take a lot of work–and some very brutal realities–to break through here.

Wait until they “open up” the libel laws to make it easier for public figures, especially republicans in government, to sue individuals and media outlets. WaPo’s “anticipatory obedience” will become the norm for everyone with anything to lose. That and the coming flood of AI produced deepfakes casting doubt on the legitimacy of pictures and videos will be a fascist’s wet dream.
I’d love it if this poll were to confirm my bias 8-); but the last column makes no sense to me; and I can’t find any description of the poll’s methodology in a Google search. Does anybody have a URL for a description of the poll itself, not just the graphic?

This is an important bit of data, but like Hank Green said “what would be really impressive is if someone showed the Harris voters believing something *unfavorable* to Harris”.
Like how accurate would people be for rating a statement like “Housing affordability is near record lows”?
I think this poll is great for telling us where partisan fact distortion mechanisms are most effective. Like, it certainly appears people are worst at assessing crime rates (likely because we’re bad at risk assessment generally), pretty bad at assessing undocumented immigration rates, pretty bad at assessing inflation rates, and relatively good at assessing stock market performance.
If you didn’t already know about partisan fact distortion, than this poll is also telling us that people will just think “things are bad” when “my political party isn’t in charge”. I know from other studies that when it comes to assessing the economy, that partisanship colored glasses disconnect is greater among Republicans than Democrats.
But guess what? There is too much crime, too much undocumented immigration, too much recent inflation, and the stock market is not the economy!
The facts that crime was rampant in the 90s, we need comprehensive immigration reform, prices are now more stable at the high levels we hate, and the house (i.e. US corporations) always wins are not contradicting any of the problems being identified.
What the poll does not tell us is “wow Republicans are dumb and voting against their interests again”. That is what the short, simplistic, and wrong social media meme take is, and we can do better. For the sake of the future of the Democratic party, we must do better.
