What has gone missing in the discussion of the last debate is Trump’s incoherence. I don’t mean that he’s a mean, nasty ass bigot, though he is a mean, nasty ass bigot. What I mean is that he can’t state his bigotry clearly. Consider his “Black jobs” comment from the last debate (boldface mine):
“His big kill on the Black people is the millions of people that he’s allowed to come in through the border,” Trump said. “They’re taking Black jobs now, and it could be 18, it could be 19 and even 20 million people. They’re taking Black jobs and they’re taking Hispanic jobs, and you haven’t seen it yet, but you’re going to see something that’s going to be the worst in our history.”
As the Post article notes, Trump’s statement is not only ugly, but it’s incorrect. But what’s relevant to this post is that it is also incoherent. Here’s how a ‘smart’ bigot could have said what Trump said:
There are a lot of younger workers–American citizens, including Black people–who are having a hard time finding those ‘first jobs’, the jobs that let you build up work experience, especially if you don’t have a college degree, because illegal immigrants are taking those jobs. And if you’re lucky enough to find one of those jobs, it pays less and is more dangerous because of illegal immigrants.
That’s stupid and evil (and incorrect), but it is coherent and intelligible. And Trump could have said something like that ten years ago and certainly twenty years ago. But as I’ve noted, he’s clearly having cognitive difficulties: he can’t pronounce words routinely, and when he speaks extemporaneously, it comes off as gibberish (“never fight uphill me boys!”).
Is Biden old? Yes. But Trump is experiencing massive cognitive decline–which might be why a Bloomberg poll had Biden narrowing the gap after the debate (for whatever that’s worth). The question is will legacy media outfits actually cover this too?

The Atlantic ironically had an article saying that no, the media will never cover Trump’s problems and will instead continue to focus on Biden’s age “the double standard”… at the same time it was running two stupid articles about how and why they think Biden should step down. I just looked at the Atlantic headlines again and they’ve authored another 4 anti-Biden hit-pieces (technically one is an anti-Kamala Harris hit piece).
I don’t think it’s crazy to believe in conspiracy theories right now, especially given how we know for a fact that the Supreme Court has been bought of and literally some of who the buyers are. So, I strongly suspect that these anti-Biden articles are part of a coordinated effort and not just trends or stupidity on the part of the media. I also suspect that not all of professional democrats’ problems are incompetence, but that some of them are outright sabotage.
