It seems like the Biden administration might make some moves on reducing or eliminating student debt, though other rumors suggest they’re going to do some kind of means testing–because they just can’t help but make things needlessly complicated. All that said, the usual suspects are angry about this–Republican Senator Mitt Romney, who has an elevator for his cars, on the Twitterz, wondered what would be next?
“Forgive auto loans? Forgive credit card debt? Forgive mortgages? And put a wealth tax on the super-rich to pay for it all.”
Well, akshually… But I digress. One of the opposing voices to Biden’s possible policy tweeted this:
What’s hilarious is that Kassy Dillon is a conservative operative who writes for right wing propaganda outlet The Daily Wire. Somehow, I don’t think her vote in 2022 is in play. Meanwhile, what we do have are a bunch of young(-ish) voters who voted for Democrats because they want student loan relief, and are really pissed off about not getting help (yet).
While it would definitely be counter to form especially for a New Democrat like Biden, for once, Democrats need to hurl money at their base directly, without worrying about what a bunch of people who aren’t going to vote for them think. And anyone for whom student loan relief was the issue that convinced them to switch their vote to Republican wasn’t going to vote for Democrats anyway.
