Richard Grenell is a long-time Republican apparatchik. He did serve in the Trump administration, but it’s not like the guy was some unknown weirdo. He served in the Bush Administration, and was a spokesman for the Romney campaign.

they are really just angry that California has somewhat better worker protections than some red state (we have sick time and a pro worker unemployment system, protection from non compete clauses etc.). And for that we have to put up with such punishing, uh signs, yes that’s it, such punishing signs. It’s so brutal. Make it stop!!! WAAAAAHHHHH
