In my area, there isn’t just a ‘shortage’ or ‘high prices’ for rapid tests. There are, basically, none for sale. No appointments available at clinics. Which makes it hard to be responsible and not a plague rat. The whole point of a rapid test is that you can get one between 2 shifts at work: if you can’t do that, you don’t have rapid testing. And I’m told not to worry about becoming an asymptomatic carrier because I’m vaccinated, but I’m not sure that’s how it actually works: I’d really want a test to confirm that I’m not carrying. I’m only a science person though, so I’m not in charge of things.
