    In the Threader article (top of the list) Julius Ghost agrees that the US is a republic, not a democracy. That is a falsehood that has persisted for more than 30 years. At the time of the founding of the US, people recognized two types of republic, aristocratic and democratic. John Adams called the US a mixed republic, having features of both. But by the 1820s the US had become more democratic, and most people said that it was a democratic republic. It has only become more democratic since then. It still a democratic republic, OC, but it may also be described as a representative democracy.

    Trump, however, is neither democratic nor republican. He wants to destroy both the democracy and the republic, and become a dictator. He demands personal loyalty and tries to rule by fiat. He sucks up to actual dictators, while his authoritarian base cheers him on.
