I Was Joking About the Girl In the Bikini

If that post title isn’t good linkbait, then I don’t know what is. Anyway, after the pool party incident in McKinney, Texas, where a police officer pulled a gun on black teenagers who had been invited to a private pool for a party, and then pinned a teenage girl in a bikini to the ground, I snarked the following:

Mind you, I was joking. I really didn’t think even dyed in the wool racists would argue that someone in a bikini would have a hidden weapon–she’s wearing a bikini, which doesn’t leave a lot of place to hide things.

I was wrong. I give you Fox News’ Sean Hannity (really, take him):

Sean Hannity stated that Officer Eric Casebolt was fully justified in his behavior and in pulling out his pistol because the black teenagers could’ve come up behind the officers and “hit them with a shank in the back.”

Really? A shank? In a swimsuit? At a pool party?

Be honest and tell me who has shanks?

Prisoners have shanks.

I saw beautiful black teenagers who looked like my own kids, but Sean Hannity saw prisoners who were potentially carrying shanks coming up from behind the officer, like on prison television, and stab them in the neck in front of everyone.

But it’s not about race, because it’s never about race.

(Sweet Baby Intelligent Designer, even the National Review Online thinks excessive force was used).

WTF even IS a shank? who has said that word since, like, the 1940s?

  2. The inanity of Hannity.

A shank is a shiv. Hannity was probably worried those kids had gats too.

    Maybe even roscoes.

    Isn’t “shank” a verb?
