Instead of bemoaning how scientific issues are never raised except superficially, I humbly suggest we barge in and shove various issues, both large and small, onto the agenda. One smaller issue is open access for federally-funded research. So go here, and sign the petition–if it hits 25,000 signatures, the Obama administration will be forced to respond one way or another.

I signed it, and at the time of my signing it was at maybe 25,500-something.
It’s an awesome idea: I guess I didn’t know the government could mandate such a thing. I definitely feel like open access is the wave of the future, though.
