From the Mad Biologist’s far-flung global network of correspondents, we receive the following:

Hey, just a quick thanks – your link to the Scientific American article about putting bee honey on your everywhere inspired my 7yo daughter’s science fair project.

We grew bacteria, inoculated petri dishes and introduced various potential anti-bacterial agents. She loved it, hated it, was totally caught up in it, was impatient, frustrated and excited through the whole process. Being seven is exhausting. Parenting seven is also, too.

Right now, [X–we prefer that our network remain mysteriously anonymous] either wants to be a “Rock Star or a Biologist.” I said she could be both.

And here’s some science–the filter disk is impregnated with bee honey (none of the other disks gave such a clear result, so I don’t think this is simply due to high sugar concentrations):
