Channeling My Inner Sen. Inhofe: Let’s Just Give Up on Infectious Disease Too, While We’re at It

I am so sick of these fucking Republicants, such as Senator James Inhofe:

Well actually the Genesis 8:22 that I use in there is that “as long as the earth remains there will be springtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night.” My point is, God’s still up there. The arrogance of people to think that we, human beings, would be able to change what He is doing in the climate is to me outrageous.

It’s bad enough when ‘literalists’ want to stymie basic scientific discovery, such as is the case with evolution. It’s even worse when they get in the way of fixing problems that desperately need fixing. The only question remaining is if he uttered this while curled up in the fetal position crying, “Not the face! Not the face!” Because there are lots of problems that used to be filed under “God’s will” that we routinely tackle. Like going to the heavens: also known as the space program. Or infectious disease. Inhofe’s attitude, despite the religious dross, is nothing more than Vichy science.

Serious people work the problem. They don’t throw up their hands in resignation.

What a fucking disgrace.

The fact that he’s a biblical literalist then nitpicks over the translation really gets me…It’s god’s inerrant word, but it’s this word, not that word…what?

  2. I sent a message to the senator on his website inhofe.senate.gov the other day, and, as expected from a nut bag, I received no response.

What That Idiot Inhofe seems to me to be saying is that he finds the contention that humans have caused ‘Global Warming’ is ridiculous because humans are nowhere near to having the kind of power needed to affect something willed by The Creator of the Universe. Therefore ‘Global Warming’ either does not exist (and temperature measurements do not defeat this possibility because this is a matter of ‘Truth’, that Almighty God is Supreme, mere secular things cannot reduce this Truth, for proof see the first sentence I wrote), or ‘Global Warming’ is a “Good Thing(tm)” because it is God-Willed and we would be horribly sinning if we tried to stop God’s Will, him (notice the gender assignment to an ostensibly abstract concept) being The Creator of the Universe and all.

The fact that I can construct grammatically correct sentences that are full of ‘Inofe-level’ irresponsible stupidity, and then say them with a straight face does not mitigate at all the fact that Inhofe is a dangerously and at least somewhat intentionally insane man. Unfortunately too many people in the press, and too many voters, think that because people can write about what he says in grammatically correct sentences, and say those sentences (those shibboleths) without overtly acknowledging their innate insanity somehow makes it all alright.

Ah, Inhofe’s just another one of the men who speak the “Word of God” with the “Tongue of Satan”. That he is regarded as some sort of devout Believer is just another sign of how upside-down the American form of Christianity has been turned. Even the Pharisees would have been appalled at these nauseating, mealy-mouthed hypocrites.
