“Deleveraging, a parable” is not about deleveraging. It is about the velocity of money. Yes, we could use a higher velocity of money now, but that will follow if we get enough money into circulation. To some extent the middle class are both debtors and creditors, creditors mostly through their retirement plans. But deleveraging today is really about inequality and the threat of debt peonage. Creditors have too much power now.
