And a hotmail.com address no less! Killorglin is a small-ish village, so what Diageo is doing down there and not in Dublin is anyone’s guess. 🙂

  2. Ex-drone says:

No way!! My e-ticket number is EM8217DC. I missed it by one! Damn!!

  3. Ktesibios says:

Technically speaking, Mike, that’s a phishing scam, not a garden-variety spam (although since it’s unsolicited, phishing emails could be considered a subset of the set of spam).
Judging by the contents of my Hotmail junk mail box, “lottery” scams seem to be gaining popularity while the older style “air crash victim/dead Nigerian dictator left millions behind” pitches seem to be waning.
    Ah, the vagaries of fashion.

  4. Toby says:

Diageo are a massive food conglomerate … I would guess their corporate HQ has a larger staff that the population of Killorglin!!!
Think they are based in London, Guinness is only a tiny part of their empire.

  5. Graculus says:

That was a rhetorical question, right?
Even the garden variety spam (viagra, stocks, etc) are usually sent by breaking various laws and ethical standards.
Killorglin is a small-ish village, so what Diageo is doing down there and not in Dublin is anyone’s guess.
I’d guess that the headers would reveal that this email was not sent from Killorglin, Dublin, or even London.
