Shakesville Hit with Denial of Service Attack

The feminist blog, Shakesville (formerly Shakespeare’s Sister), has been hit with a denial of service attack. Oddly enough, it happened right after she criticized Scientology (on the other hand, lots of people have been gunning for Shakes for some time). The site is moving to a dedicated server, but that costs money, so, if you can, help Shakes out.

Actually, you’re not off-base at all for pinning this on Scientology. They have a history of, if not DoS attacks necessarily, large-scale harassment of anybody perceived as an enemy of the church. No doubt, they declared her “fair game” or whatever they call it now and some enterprising member decided this would be a fun way to get back at her.

Hmmm. I certainly wouldn’t put it past the “church” itself to mount a DoS attack. They’ve been caught doing worse things in the past (“Operation Freakout”). On the other hand, while I’m not really familiar with shakesville in particular, I have seen feminist blogs attract some pretty deranged men.
