If you haven’t heard yet, the FDA approved an mRNA vaccine for influenza in adults 50 and older. There was some confusion as to why Kennedy’s HHS would do this, and the answer, I think, is is that it has been approved for older people. Some of the less rabid–note the relative qualifier here–MAHA types will admit the benefits of vaccines might be worth the supposed* risks of vaccination in the elderly, and bullshit concerns about developing autism aren’t an issue for the elderly either.

Of course, elderly people vote and lean conservative, so there’s that too.

They’ll still awful on policy and will cause unnecessary suffering and death, but at least, we’ll get an improved flu vaccine out of this. It’s also good for companies like Moderna because it allows them to bring a product online, and hopefully, when Democrats take back power, the regulatory environment won’t be run by bugshitcrazytarian crackpots.
