When the Emperor Has No Clothes

This, of course, is a post about Elon Musk.

There’s a meme about Elon Musk in which a software engineer says he used to think Musk knew what he was talking because he (the engineer) didn’t know much about rockets, so Musk’s claims sounded reasonable. And the engineer also didn’t know much about cars, so Musk’s claims about self-autonomous driving and so on sounded smart. But then he heard Musk talk about software and coding, and he realized Musk has no idea what he’s talking about.

Well, guess what? Musk has thoughts about Nazis:

Musk then argued that if you’re not committing genocide, then you can’t be called a Nazi.

“What’s relevant about Nazis is like, are you invading Poland? And if you’re not invading Poland, maybe you’re not” a Nazi, he said. “You have to be committing genocide and starting wars. ”

“What is actually bad about Nazis — it wasn’t their fashion or their mannerisms, it was the war and genocide,” he added.

This is an incredibly stupid definition of Nazis. Musk is just stone-cold ignorant about this (to the extent, of course, that he’s not a fascist). This is not what a smart person says, never mind a supposed GENIUS.

The reality is that most people don’t know about cars, rockets, or code. But lots of people know about Nazis (and other authoritarians). So when Musk says things like this, he’s showing his fascist ass to a whole bunch of people who might otherwise think he’s smart and reasonable. While I don’t think this will DESTROY!! Musk, every cut hurts.
