We hired a real estate stager and got a very good price for the house we sold. One problem in selling a house is that most people lack imagination. They only see what is there. They can’t imagine how the house might look broom clean as it should be when they buy it. They can’t imagine how it would look with their furniture in it. They can’t imagine how it would look if they bought furniture to put in it. They can’t imagine what a bit of paint or some remodeling might make it look like. Real estate stagers compensate for that by imagining what the place might look like in the buyer’s fantasy and presenting it.

We sold a house on a fresh water lake in a national park. The stager used the furniture we provided except for a beaten up old couch. She had us rent a nicer couch. She made it look like a beach house. There were salt water sea shells and ocean rounded stones scattered here and there. There was a fishing line with a dangling hook by the porch. It was catch and release only as per park rules. We were amused. It was theatrical, stage set, family house by a lake, contemporary. We were even more amused when we got just shy of our outrageous asking price.
