Do We Simply Not Care About Old People? The pandemic was a wake-up call on how we care for older adults

When people mention that a study was “done pre-vaccine” it makes it sound like this wouldn’t apply to vaccinated people today. It absolutely would apply to unvaccinated people today. This misunderstanding is rampant. I’ve heard more than once that many people believe that this “hybrid herd immunity” they’re told about means that because so many people have had infections already, that the immunity that those people have supposedly built up means that if the elderly or someone unvaccinated gets it now it just won’t be bad anymore. This is just not how it works, but the PR push manufacturing mild has created this.
Therefore I suggest people should say “this study was done in all unvaccinated people, before vaccines were available” instead of “this was done pre-vaccine” giving the impression something about the vaccines in existence muted the virus’s effect for everyone across the board regardless of vaccination or risk status or anything else.
