I heard a lot of interesting things about Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama by David Garrow, so I decided to check it out from the library. However, there’s a problem. See if you can find it:

It weighs over 4.5 pounds. The text (not including notes, etc.) is 1,089 pages. And it’s typeset on the small size end of things. Why one wouldn’t make this a two-volume book isn’t clear.
It’s going to take a while to read this, I think. Or do I just return it, and get two weeks of my spare time back?

1089 is 33 squared. Also my freshman college mailbox number. People I had never met knew instantly that I was a nerd when I was so excited about that. I’d pass on that sucker, though.
Would you read the Hebrew bible?
