Since the powers that be ignored my suggestion that D.C. hold the first Democratic primary, there’s really only one item on the ballot worth discussing: the At-Large Member of the Council (which sounds kinda porny). The most important thing is to not vote for Vincent Orange. Not only is Orange a cheap vote (at least live large if you’re going to be bought), but he has proposed some really dumb ideas. My favorite dumb idea is to solve D.C.’s housing problem by building tiny houses. Of course, cities already have tiny houses: they’re called apartments. Orange has also promoted housing policies that hurt the poor and the young.
So the alternative is between David Garber and Robert White. White gets the nod as I think he’s better than Garber on education policy, but either would be reasonably good (if ‘electability’ is a concern, I think White gets a slight nod there as well). Just don’t vote for Vincent Orange. Please.
