*** Yassar Arafat and the Radioactive Cigarette ***

Twenty plus half-lifes are an awful lot, so a definitive answer by direct detection may not be possible. Perhaps there are some unavoidable contaminants from manufacturing the Polonium, for somebody planning to use the stuff for a simple murder might have been careless about the purity.

*** Go to Your Womb, Ross Douthat ***

The NYT could have gotten anybody, and they chose HIM! Anyhow, a blogger at Firedoglake has Douthat’s number. I hardly ever go to his site anymore (because he’s an O-bot to the core) unless I want to read his latest take on the Vatican’s Blogger. He has a really neat graphic to go with many of the takedowns.

*** Rand Paul Doesn’t Know Which Industries Actually Dominate His State ***

The spectacle of carpetbagger (born Pennsylvania) hyperventilating about an 8th-generation Kentuckian was something to behold. Though I don’t know a thing about Judd except I’ve heard her name mentioned, I can state with authority she’d be a better senator than Paul. But the same people who elected Paul also put Mitch McConnell in the Senate, so she’s probably not got a chance.

And that’s why I don’t brag about my native state as much as I once did.

re. 11 Reasons You’re Glad Jim DeMint Is Leaving the Senate – I can think of a twelfth: wasn’t he one of the goons who tried to abolish the EPA?

(Of the ones that *are* on the list, I think I was most taken aback by #3, though.)
