To follow up on yesterday’s post, another awful thing about Trump’s refusal to do the decent thing and resign is that the entire spectacle revolves around a very simple question: is there anything so vile and so incontrovertible, such that even Republicans will not be willing or able to sweep it under the rug.

Trump has already been proven to be a rapist, but that clearly is not enough for Republicans to do their jobs and hold him accountable. That the Republican Party and their allies call decent people pedophiles because we think LGBTQ+ should be treated with dignity and respect makes it all the more vile.

It’s pretty clear they are terrified there is something like the Jane Doe deposition that actually could be substantiated (note: not for those without a strong stomach). That might be a bridge too far even for them, but that is what it would take. Maybe.

There is no balm in Gilead for those sin-sick souls.
