By way of the Washington Post, we get this good display of the high temperatures (in ºF) for D.C. in 2024:

I was going to describe the unusual months, but the reality is most of the months were unusually warm (though December, in a technical sense, had a bunch of below average temperatures, but not by much). In fact, we only had three days below 32ºF. The other thing to note is how much variability there is. There are a lot of 15-20ºF swings over a 24 hour period.
This was not normal.

It sounds like the weather you experienced was far from typical, with unusually warm months and significant temperature swings. Those 15-20ºF fluctuations over short periods, along with only three days below freezing, really highlight how extreme and out of the ordinary the conditions were. Definitely not what you’d expect!
