Some thoughts on yesterday’s conviction of felon Donald Trump:
- Don’t let anyone tell you “This is a sad moment for the country.” It’s fucking great, and it’s how it should have gone. Now do the fucking Snoopy Happy Dance.
- At his sentencing hearing July 11, convicted felon Donald Trump might have to show (or feign) *remorse*. That is fucking hilarious.
- Just to reiterate: a wealthy businessman used accounting fraud to gain massive political advantage (aka ‘the presidency’). This is not a bullshit charge, claims by rightwingers and horseshoe leftists notwithstanding.
- I don’t think he’ll be jailed, but he possibly might end up under house arrest for a certain period of time.
- If, as part of his sentence, Trump is forced to take a business ethics or accounting course, that also would be fucking hilarious.
- While the first, and bad, instinct of the Biden Administration is to not discuss the verdict, other Democrats must do so. It can move the needle, if it is made part of a narrative about Trump. They can’t treat as an ‘issue’ they just barf out there and expect voters to figure out. They have to explain what it means
- One of the nice things about Bluesky is that when a butthurt Trump supporter shows up on one of my threads celebrating the conviction, the block function removes the comment. They haven’t figured out that blocking works very differently on Bluesky, and that spamming the responses doesn’t work.
Anyway, I wish everyone a belated, happy, and healthy Fitzmas.
