I’m perfectly willing to trade reduced performance at auditory recall for improved visual or abstract recall and greatly improved reading speed, things they weren’t measuring for but are likely to find if they look.
My general opinion of humans (and their freely overshared opinions) as a pack of assholes likely contributes to this perspective, but I stand by it on its own merits as well.
