Now that convicted rapist and serial fraudster Donald Trump is likely the Republican nominee, there are concerns about whether he should receive the traditional intelligence briefings that candidates usually get. Biden actually has a choice here, as it’s not a legal obligation.
It’s worth reminding ourselves what the U.S. government looks for when determining if an employee or contractor is a potential ‘insider threat’–someone who would be likely to spill secrets (boldface added):
Looking across various federal agencies*, here’s a list of the features of the people who might be an insider threat… (I tried to stay true to their language):
- Vulnerability to blackmail, greedy, or has a large financial need.
- Destructive, compulsive, or passive-aggressive behavior; may also have narcissistic tendencies.
- Difficulty with criticism (personal or job-related).
- Minimizes mistakes, blames others and fails to take responsibility for them.
- Lacks empathy and loyalty, is ‘ethically flexible.’
- Has a sense of entitlement.
- History of frustration or disappointment, believes they haven’t received their due.
- Contempt for the United States government and/or the current administration.
Does this sound like any former president you know? …to assume Trump was just hoarding documents to salve his ego is a bad assumption–he is the definition of an insider threat and any other former federal employee who did what he has done would be thrown under the jail.
Obviously Trump shouldn’t receive a briefing. That refusing to do so, with an explanation of course as to why he’s not getting briefed, only hurts Trump–and deservedly so.

Actually this might be a good channel for testing Trump and catching him in treason.
Not to mention the value of spreading disinformation to the Russians (draw them into a trap in Ukraine, for instance, by lying about troop movements)
Remember how Tyrion Lannister told several false stories to several suspects to find out who was reporting to Cersei?
Brief him that Mar A Lago and other golf courses, etc. that he frequents – and we have credible intelligence about this – are targeted by or, are within the blast radius of nuclear weapons targeting other strategic assets close to his properties from Russia, China, and North Korea.
Brief him that the NATO allies of France and Britain are not targeting U.S. assets due to their NATO membership.
Brief him that Pakistan, India, and Israel likewise don’t seem to be targeting any U.S. assets.
