I recently had occasion to visit NIST, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, which provides measurement standards. For example, most networked clocks use NIST’s Internet Time Service which sets computer clocks and other networked timekeeping devices.
But they also set standards for other things, such as this:

That’s right: there’s an official government peanut butter standard. There’s also a “Meat Homogenate” standard. Hopefully, neither of these taste like chicken.

I know the peanut butter isn’t actually for eating, but I still want to try it.
