Giant Jellyfish of Doom!

First, brain sucking amobae. Now, humongous jellyfish:

Giant jellyfish are flooding into the Sea of Japan.
The translucent creatures can grow as large as 6 feet in diameter and weigh 450 lbs. Over the last 5 years, millions have migrated from the coast of China into Japanese waters. Scientists believe they’re floating in on ocean currents warmed by global climate change.
The jellyfish are so heavy they rip the nets of Japanese fishermen and their venom poisons the rest of the catch.
The country’s fishing industry has been devastated. But a Japanese entrepreneur has decided to make lemonade out of these marine lemons.
Kaneo Fukuda calls himself “Jellyfish Fukuda” and he claims to have developed more than 20 products made out of the jellyfish. He’s marketing everything from makeup to mixed drinks. Anyone for a Jellyfish Sour?

I wouldn’t want to get stung by one, but they are really cool looking.

I saw a documentary of these beasties a couple of days ago, and they still gross me out. Look and those dangling pink, meaty-looking parts, it looks like some B horror movie villain!

It’s not such a good idea to hunt them into extinction to make lip gloss.
*smile* I remember when Noah threaten the dinosaurs with extinction with his dinosaur skin tool handles. He resulted in pimping his arc. Dinosaur interior and exterior.

  5. Duck – I was born in the Magpie Pub the year before the outbreak of WWII. The Magpie was close to London so my early memories include the nightly sound of enemy bombers as they scattered incendaries around the village. My grandmother was the landlady and my mother the manager and I sold posies to the GI's and their sweethearts.
