In case you missed it, anti-vaccine advocate and Democratic presidential primary candidate (who doesn’t have chance in hell of winning the nomination even if Biden dies) RFK Jr. uttered this over the weekend (boldface mine):

Kennedy Jr. dished out wild COVID-19 conspiracy theories this week during a press event at an Upper East Side restaurant, claiming the bug was a genetically engineered bioweapon that may have been “ethnically targeted” to spare Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people…
“COVID-19. There is an argument that it is ethnically targeted. COVID-19 attacks certain races disproportionately,” Kennedy said. “COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.”
“We don’t know whether it was deliberately targeted or not but there are papers out there that show the racial or ethnic differential and impact,” Kennedy hedged…
Kennedy’s remark echoes well-worn anti-Semitic literature blaming Jews for the emergence and spread of coronavirus which began circulating online shortly after the pandemic broke out, according to The Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry at the University of Tel Aviv’s 2021 Antisemitism Worldwide Report.
I, of course, am shocked that a psychologically fucked up wealthy failson would embrace anti-Semitism. And let’s ignore UK data that show Chinese and Jewish people* died at higher rates than Whites or Christians–we shouldn’t expect bigots to be factually accurate.
In better times, this would be the death knell for anyone taking his campaign seriously. Sadly, it won’t probably matter.
Aside: Our political press corps is so fucking broken that the original reporting was about a shouting match and farting, not RFK Jr.’s bigot eruption.
*Of course, this also ignores Sephardic and Mizrachi Jews, but I’m sure an anti-Semite like RFK Jr. doesn’t even know about them.
