I did a quick Google search for the “steel spring” quote, thinking it might be from some actual account of the Stalingrad battle. No hits, but of course I wasn’t looking in French; and Google is not omniscient any way (not yet). But this is the oddest thing to see as street art – who made it, and what are they thinking? It’s hard for too many people in 2021 D.C., I should think, to respond to this in any emotional way, but the work is highly, highly emotional to those with some historical memory.
